Money Bag - Search Engine Traffic
59
Search biz has been the coldest hottest thing in the world for quite a while. Why is it cold and hot at the same time? Well in internet marketing, there is a mantra that all internet marketers have no choice but to learn by heart. The mantra is “traffic equals money”. You might wonder how search engines relate to internet marketing. You see, search engines which are more than a necessity on the internet get millions of visitors every single minute. The internet would be like space junk without them, it would feel like being lost in some gargantuan forest without a compass, a map or a guide to lead a way from dangerous parts of the forest and showing you edible food to prevent death from poisoning or outright starvation. Due to the single fact that people hate getting (or even feeling) lost and that they would welcome virtually any resource which would serve as a guide to finding information that they need in a timely manner – people rely on them extensively.
Search engines are quite adept at serving as a guide to people of all ages especially since Google came into the game. Its technology allowed more than ever for people to get access to some of the best resources available online without having to visit 20 or more junk sites to find it. As internet marketers say, “get the traffic first and figure out what to do later” Google has figured out exactly how to monetize its traffic without a need to perform any internet marketing. The company figured out how to squeeze out Billions of dollars with a capital ‘B’ every year without associating itself with any of the bad rep all marketers get. In fact, to ordinary users of its search software, Google is a charity organization.
Well if you are reading this article, then you should already know about adwords and adsense and you already know about Microsoft’s attempt to cut into the online Advertising money by first getting the traffic with Bing. Bing has done particularly great so far and might have really taken over the world’s search market if not for the experience of one of Google’s top executives who happened to be one of the very many guys that have been beaten black and blue by Microsoft. Well this dude like many others who got plummered real good by the Micro company got his whooping while he was at the reins of affairs at Novel network and must have cursed an cursed and made tons of promises to the universe of how he would hit back and not make similar mistakes if he ever got a chance to redo things from scratch. Well the universe answered his prayers but not in the same way he had hoped, the universe gave him an even better opportunity with Google.
The issue is that while this experienced young company has won many battles with its arch nemesis Microsoft, a new threat might be looming on the horizon. Siri which is pretty neat voice command software that Apple has added to its iPhone, has the capability to disrupt the dominance of Google especially in the mobile search market in which Google has already started to draw in additional billions. If the Siri software is as great as Apple claims it is and users grow to become dependent on it and not only that, Siri mutates into a software that could be used in phones made by other manufacturers, Google might be in for some serious trouble. The threat would become even more formidable especially if Microsoft makes a deal with Apple to integrate Bing as the only search option for the Siri software; if this happens, it’s pretty much K.O. for Google as Bing would have won the mobile search market particularly in the United states and Europe.
